Black Beach Family Tour – a safe and cozy ride for the whole family

Bring the family for a calm and fun experience along the black sand beach in Vík with our Black Beach Family Tour. This tour is specially designed for children from the age of 6 and their families, and takes place at a relaxed pace so everyone – young and old – can feel safe and enjoy the experience together.

The ride lasts approximately 30 minutes and follows a shorter route along the fascinating Víkurfjara beach, close to the stables. The black volcanic sand and dramatic surroundings create a magical setting that both children and adults will remember for a long time. Along the way, we keep an eye out for interesting birds – and who knows – maybe we’ll catch a glimpse of a troll hiding among the rocks!

Children ride safely on Icelandic horses with lead ropes, and our experienced guides ensure that everyone feels comfortable. If anyone is a bit nervous, we take extra time and support them every step of the way. Our guides love sharing their knowledge of Icelandic horses and are happy to talk about the horses’ special qualities and history along the ride.

Icelandic horses are known for their friendly temperament and calm nature, making them ideal for children and first-time riders. They are small but strong – and incredibly charming!
