Whales and Puffins – Adventure from Húsavík

Join us for an authentic nature experience, where whale watching and puffin spotting are combined into one unforgettable journey! You may encounter humpback whales, minke whales and perhaps other species – and you’ll likely see more puffins than you can count!

We begin the tour with a sailing trip to Puffin Island near Húsavík. In summer, the island is bustling with life as over 100,000 puffins gather to breed. Watching these charming and comical birds build nests, fly and dive for food is entertaining and fascinating – especially for children who adore their clumsy and characteristic flying style!

We sail around the island in our beautiful wooden boats, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the rich birdlife. Our experienced crew will gladly share their knowledge about puffins and the other wildlife in the area.

The puffins arrive in mid-April and stay until the end of August. It’s worth noting that around 60% of the world’s puffin population breeds in Iceland – so you’re in the perfect place to witness these lovable seabirds.

We then continue out into Skjálfandi Bay for whale watching. The rest of the trip is spent searching for these majestic marine mammals. Every summer, many whales visit the bay to feed in the nutrient-rich waters. Getting up close to these impressive creatures is an experience beyond words.

On the return journey to Húsavík, our crew will treat you to hot cocoa and freshly baked cinnamon buns – the perfect end to an unforgettable trip.
