Lava tunnel Iceland is a giant cave right outside of Reykjavik
Explore the magnificent lava tunnel Raufarhólshellir – one of the longest and most vel-know lava tunnels in Iceland. The tunnel is sited only 30 minutes from Reykjavik and is easily accessible all year around.
A journey into the Raufarhólshellir cave is a unique experience and is a brilliant opportunity to witness the power of volcanic activity up close. On this tour we will walk in the footsteps of the lava from an eruption at Leitahraun, east of the Bláfjöll mountains, approximately 5200 years ago. In the entrance of the cave, spectacular ice sculptures are formed by nature every year. This makes the experience even more breath-taking!
